Pashmina (Better known as Cashmere), is the finest softest and warmest wool found in nature. It comes from the underbelly of the capra hircus goats in the remote Himalayas, about 10,000 feet above the sea lavel. Each pashmina hair is 1.6 the diameter of human hair. It can take the fibres combed from three goats to create enough yarn for one garment.

ABOUT OUR KNITTERS
We are collaborating with a group of knitters near Kathmandu. Giving back to the community in which they operate is of paramount importance to them, with 2% of each export sale being donated to the Nepalese charities for children’s education. They have also established a welfare fund for staff, knitters and weavers. Their motto to provide jobs for needy woman and to support socially and economically deprived people.
There are currently 15 women and 2 men are working on production, from weaving to finishing. There are 3 groups producing hand knit products like sweaters, caps, gloves etc, with one leader in each group. The group leader collects wool from the office and distributes to the knitters. The knitters all work from home where they can juggle work with family commitments.
Following the tragic earthquakes in 2015, we asked the question “what can we do to help?” the response was ” Please just keep sending us more orders”.
So whether a treat for yourself, or a gift for a loved one, you know that your purchase is very much appreciated.
Thank you
CARE OF YOUR CASHMERE
Always hand wash your cashmere in a gentle soap detergent. Squeeze out the water gently, never rub or wring. Reshape on a large (preferably white) bath towel & roll. Your cashmere can be left to dry like this, in a place that allows the air to circulate.
When completely dry, you can pop into the tumble drier for no more than 2/3 minutes on a COLD cycle. Never ever dry completely in a drier as your cashmere will shrink.
As this is a completely nature wool fibre, pilling may occur especially in areas of friction. This is not a flaw & can be removed with a battery operated pill remover which can be purchased in our accessories department here on the site or in a haberdashery store.
To protect your cashmere out of season, fold in a fabric garment bag with some dried lavender. This will help to protect it from moths.
Always store your cashmere folded rather than hanging & be careful of jewellery. If it is in any way rough, or has prongs typically used for holding stones, do not wear it with your cashmere. Be extra careful around velcro!!
